Paper in Pink

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month draws to a close - thought I'd salute with a nod to the paper fabulous- toilet paper fabulous that is!

A very cool fashion show was presented in September by Cananda's leading TP manufacturer- Cashmere- a show of fashion designs created by- you guessed it- good ol' papier de toilette! Here's what they say about the event:

"Fifteen top fashion designers from across Canada graced the runway with their vision of a future without breast cancer at the Sixth Annual White Cashmere Collection 2009: Fashion with Compassion in Toronto on September 23.

A unique celebration of style with substance, the world-leading White Cashmere Collection is crafted entirely in 100% pure, soft and luxurious sheets of Cashmere Bathroom Tissue, Canada’s best-selling brand. The Cashmere BT (bathroom tissue) Couture collection also heralds the return of limited-edition Pink Cashmere, a fund- and awareness-raiser for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, with twenty-five cents from the sale of every package of Pink going directly to the Foundation."

To see the entire collection and read the designer bios visit the Couture White Cashmere Collection site. And next time you make a TP purchase- stock up and consider the possibilities...
what a great way to boost your recession wardrobe!! ;-)

Short North Wedding Walk Makes a Fab Debut

Romance was in the air last night at the debut of the Short North Walk. What a fun event! And quite the successful launch... a great turn out of brides-to-be accompanied by mom's, maids and men!

Seven of Columbus' top wedding vendors participated in what will become an ongoing event and a perfect venue to introduce brides to all of the creative talent nestled in this fabulous neighborhood. Shops featuring couture gowns to couture paper, event planning, photo artistry, a rockin' registry, floral delights and cupcake delectables were visited by 30+ brides as well as fellow wedding professionals, to hear a casual presentation of specialties and services.

The evening began at On Paper with an intro to the event and a nod to just how thrilled we are that after thirteen years as the Short North wedding veteran, the hood now boasts home to some of the city's finest talent. We then split into two groups and began a progressive tour of venues. About 15 minutes at each spot whet the appetites of brides and the exciting time ahead- how fun to plan a wedding! The festivities concluded with goodie bags and treats at our newest, soon to be neighbor- Bakery Gingham.

Cheers to all the participants and and attendees, and stay tuned for the next event- there's certainly lots more to come.

Visit shortnorthwedding walk.com for detailed info about each of the seven vendors and for the soon to be posted schedule of events.

Musical Ideas

If you are looking for a wedding theme that marches to a different tune... check out this inspiration board from the Style Me Pretty blog...

Musical Notes

You can use our imported Italian musical notes gift wrap to create these ideas, many of which require only a basic level of craftiness. For other adaptations if musical notes aren't exactly on key- try our handwriting wrap for a nostalgic look, our Leonardo architecture and traditional florentine wrap would also make a great statement.

Thanks for the i(dea) tunes Kristine!

Press Release: Short North Wedding Walk

A walk down the aisle may not exactly be a walk around the park. Many details are to be considered when planning your special event. Fortunately for Columbus’ most sophisticated brides, wedding bliss may be found in only a few short blocks.

Introducing the debut of the Short North Wedding Walk. On Thursday October 22nd, seven premier wedding specialists will share and showcase their expertise to an enthusiastic group of belles, brides, hens and chicks.

This promenade is the bridal brain trust of the Short North Wedding Collective. From gowns to gifts to photos and florals, these independent female entrepreneurs offer the best of service for the city’s modern bride.

Chic boutiques include Big Rock Little Rooster, an emporium of designer gowns including the coveted Vera Wang, On Paper, a custom stationer where modern classics are coupled with eco-chic offerings and Collier West, the eclectic home décor and gift store that defines “I Do.” Nestled in the midst of these Short North destinations, Rose Bredl provides timeless flowers where your senses will be further titillated.

The Short North Wedding Walk will feature informative tips from planning expert Kasey Sobel of Bliss Weddings and Events and Amy Carruthers of C Studios, a local illustrative photographer with an exceptional eye for detail.

Each of these local wedding experts offers creativity, style and intimate customer service. “I have been catering to Columbus brides for over a decade,” states On Paper’s Joan Schnee. “The recent addition of Bakery Gingham and Big Rock Little Rooster, has finally topped the cake. The Short North officially has become a marital destination for today’s discerning bride.”

Wedding enthusiasts will intimately gather at each of the Collective’s well curated locations, gathering details, best practices and expert advice on planning the perfect nuptials. The evening will conclude at the delectable new location of Bakery Gingham, where a taste and a toast to life and love will be shared.

The procession will take place in the Short North Arts District between East Russell Street and 1st Avenue, beginning at 5:30 P.M. Contact for reservations may be phoned to 614.297.8467.

Floral Craze continued...!

Well- if you don't get the idea by now that floral lovelies are all the rage...

These are fab hair clips are again handmade, this time by a New Mexico design studio. Using vintage linen fabric and hand detailed center bits and bobs these are SO great clipped into a ponytail, or, oh the cuteness of a side clip! And for the more creative types... these would be so easy to embellish an invitation (see previous post 10/2), a gift wrap ribbon or even as an add-on for a handmade greeting card to serve double duty- greet and adorn.

Again- great price points- $8.00 for the flaxen linen and $10 for the white linen.

60 Minutes

Andy Rooney's rant tonight: Save the post office! Mr. Rooney JUST said: "Email has all the charm of a freight train!" "I would rather have a mail man or woman deliver junk mail to me than to get an email." "We have a lot of things that need cutting but the post office is not among them."

Always knew I liked him for a reason!!
