Engagement Party Invitations and You

Did you see it coming or were you totally in the dark? Were you on a romantic weekend getaway or were you in the backyard knee deep in mulch? However it happened, the sparkler on your finger says you’re engaged. Congratulations!

What better way to celebrate your news than a party?

There was a time when the engagement party was reserved exclusively for those attending the wedding ceremony, a meet-and-greet of sorts: Dad, meet all my college roommates. Fiancé, meet Aunt Sue, ghost hunter.

While the benefit of introducing friends and family remains, the engagement party isn’t just for wedding guests these days. If you’re planning on a small ceremony or destination wedding, an engagement party that includes childhood friends, work buddies, and family is a great way for your guests to have their cake and eat it, too.

Whether the bride’s parents are hosting, as is tradition, or you’re throwing yourselves the perfect party, invitations set the tone for the event and can introduce you as a couple. At On Paper we think a lot can be said with a great invitation design. A gorgeous and thoughtful invitation to any event is keepsake.

Shakespeare in Love post on Style Me Pretty

Start the new year off with inspiration from Style Me Pretty- our favorite go to blog for wedding inspiration. Be sure to check out this MUST SEE paper inspired event- so clever and creative!

We LUV the calligraphed books hanging to frame the archway and the pages spilling from the table to create a cloth. Vintage genius!!!

Be sure to view the post HERE and more photos HERE.

Capital Style Bride January 2012

We were honored to be invited to participate in the January 2012 issue of Capital Style and were featured in the cover story Elegant Glamour!

The concept for the photo shoot was styled by fellow Short North Wedding Collective member Kasey Skobel-Conyers, founder of Bliss Events.

The invitation: Hand calligraphed in white ink on Ash die cut card stock. Designed and produced in-house at On Paper by On Paper Press.

Die cut table number cards, seating cards and menus carry the elegance of chic glam calligraphy through out the event. We love the Ash/Pale Peach color combo accented with gold- perfect for the decor and classic elegance with a touch of drama!

We had a great time seeing old friends and meeting new colleagues- proving once again that Columbus has some amazingly talented wedding professionals- perfect to help create your perfect day!

Xtreme Makeover in Columbus

Xtreme Makeover, and that oh so buoyant Ty Pennington, hit the road and were in Columbus, Ohio to re-build a home for lucky locals- the Rhodes family.

We had the distinct pleasure of working with designer Kara Wheeler and donated a few items for this much deserved family. Our store manager Michelle Porreca served as an on-site volunteer in the final days of madness as thousands prepped for the HUGE holiday episode.

We can't disclose interior shots before the show airs in December - but you can watch a news clip HERE and let's just say our part involved a bit of paper. ;)

Thanks to Xtreme Makeover for the opportunity to spread some paper love!!

On the Map / Table Cards from Steven Cox Flowers

A beautiful summer party with table designs by one of our all time Columbus fave florists, Steven Cox Flowers. The theme: Parisian Parks.

Beautiful oh la la floral arrangements, and very creative Table "Number" cards made using several papers from On Paper. It's a great, creative idea and each table card is the name of a Parisian park.

Steven Cox shares the "How To":

1. Use a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of Green Paper Company Beech card stock for the backing card. Score and fold in half.

2. Use a sheet of Cavallini Paris map gift wrap. Cut to size and glue to folded card using a roll on adhesive.

3. Cut a sheet of Jack Pine Green Paper Company cardstock to size and glue to the map layer. Write the table name using a calligraphy tip marker.

4. Voila!

Merci Steven Cox Flowers!

National Stationery Show

Sunday/Day one of the National Stationery Show: My most important buying trip of the year has begun and Day 1 did not disappoint! I attended a talk by Millie Martini Bratten, Editor in Chief of BRIDES magazine on the current buying trends of today's bride - really inspiring and came away with lots of ideas to bring back to On Paper.

Yours truly with Millie Bratten- Editor in Chief of BRIDES

Purchased lots of great cards (pix later), a lot of journals (Yay!), and fun note pads... and lots more to come. There was a really amazing show of paper dresses made by students at LIM College- very cool designs, and all constructed of paper- here's a sampling of the creative concepts...

Royal Wedding Window Displays

Just realized we never posted pix of our Royal Wedding Windows...

Michelle made a royally fab gown made of wedding invitations. The backdrop is a wall hanging - printed canvas with ornamental letter crest insignias, (for sale of course, $300). Wouldn't this be perfect to adorn your palace walls!?

The Union Jack wall hanging sports the perfect colours for everything British, including our Keep Calm and Carry On journals, stationery and gift wrap. And personalized stationery fit for a Queen (or King).

The cake is courtesy of Bakery Gingham our lovely neighbor who created this dandy confection for the Short North Wedding Walk.
